I have On the Waterfront many times. It is in my top 3 of all times. One slight criticism is that sometimes Bernstein's score seems to overwhelm certain scenes. Johnny Friendly is very under rated.

A Bill Pope lensed film that deserves a look if you haven't seen it is Zero Effect, a 90s riff on a Sherlock Holmes / Watson-esque relationship starring Bill Pullman and Ben Stiller. Highly recommended!

Saw this film when it first came out. One of the greatest movies of all time. Casting was well nigh perfect. The finale was as near to cinematic perfection as you are ever likely to get. Still moves me 40 years on.
